Funny story about these.
When I was six I used to beg my grandpa to take me with him whenever he went golfing. Every time I started begging he would tell me "NO, NO, NO, you'll just get bored and want to go home", but he'd always give in. (Hee.)
I enjoyed going with him because I had fun riding in the golf cart, but the main reason I wanted to go is because there was a particular area on the golf course that had a hedge ball tree, and I was obsessed with them. (I called them sticky balls at the time, because of the sap that seeped out of the fruit.) There were usually some laying under the tree, but I'd ask him to pick me one anyway. So we would always leave the golf course with three or four hedge balls in the back seat.
I was usually bored and wanted to go home by the time I had my hedge balls.

Here in New England we call them 'Black Walnut' Trees. As the fruit matures, they turn into very hard , walnut looking things. The Squirrels just love them! My Hubby Hates them.....Because the dern squirrels like to bury them everywhere in our gardens. And once that happens...the Trees sprout up within a week!
